Go With The Flow or Make A Plan?

Hey everyone, how’s it going?
So I had a really nice weekend. I hope you all did too!
We had four family birthdays (parents and brothers so pretty important!) in the space of five days so it was a very busy weekend, but the weather was lovely and we had lots of nice food and great company so it made for a really nice time. However, I didn’t get time to do much game dev but I took the opportunity to show some of my family an early prototype for a new concept I have and get some feedback. Family may not be the most objective group to get feedback form but it’s always nice to share my passion with them. I was tempted to show some stuff on #screenshotsaturday but I didn’t want to get too carried away so decided to hang fire until I have a bit more to show.
Coming out of the weekend I am raring to go on getting stuck in to more game dev. I have realised though that my progress on Eo’s Adventure has slowed somewhat since I’ve started playing around with GameMaker Studio and creating new prototypes. I’m still 100% committed to completing development of Eo’s Adventure for personal reasons and I want to continue to cover its development in my YouTube series on Making An Indie Game. I have intended to get more done on Eo’s Adventure but I think the problem is I haven’t made any plans to do so, I’ve kind of just been going with the flow. So with that being said I’m making a plan on what I want to achieve this week. This is something I should really be doing more often as I begin to put ever increasing amounts of effort into making my dreams a reality. So here goes, my main targets this week are:
  • Fix an ongoing bug in the collision detection for Eo’s Adventure
  • Create the next episode of Making An Indie Game
  • Further mature the prototype for my new game, tentatively name Glow
  • Begin creation of a contacts list for marketing future releases
Hopefully I should be able to comfortably achieve that whole list (assuming I can figure out what’s going on with the collision issue!). I’ll let you know how it’s going tomorrow 🙂
Thanks!
Stav
