Glow – Progress Update 1

Hey everyone, how’s it going?
So last week I set out a bunch of things I wanted to acomplish over the week:
  • Fix an ongoing bug in the collision detection for Eo’s Adventure
  • Create the next episode of Making An Indie Game
  • Further mature the prototype for Glow
  • Begin creation of a contacts list
Overall I’m pretty pleased with what I managed to achieve.
I managed to make a good start on my press list, the next steps will be to start to add to that even more and categorise it for certain game types and platforms. I also got around to releasing the next episode in my YouTube series (albeit I let that drag on over a few days when I could have gotten it out sooner). I got a lot of progress done on Glow and I feel I’m much closer to a fully functional prototype, pretty soon I can start working on making it look good! The one task that did elude me though was fixing that bug in Eo’s Adventure, although not for lack of effort. I’m beginning to think there is a fundamental issue in how I’m generating the fixtures so I might need to give it a bit of an overhaul. I’m not too concerned right now though Eo’s Adventure is a more long term learning exercise for me whereas Glow is now my main project so I am planning to put a lot more focus on that. Which makes me think if I should cover this shift in focus in Making An Indie Game or if I should keep it focused on solely the progress of Eo’s Adventure? Hmmmm. I’ll get back to you on that one…
So with a new week already part way through this is my new to do list:
  • Add fully functioning enemies to Glow
  • Add different colour lighting affects to Glow
  • Record another episode of Making An Indie Game
  • Start to organise the press list
  • Get a decent layout sorted for the new site chronikspartan.com
I currently feel this is a manageable task list size, as the weeks progress and I become more efficient I’ll probably begin growing it to achieve even more.
