Hey everyone, how’s it going?
I’ve been pretty busy the last couple of days using every minute I’m not designing #Glo levels scouring the Web for marketing contact details. That means I’ve not got as much to discuss this week.
There is one thing however that I’ve wanted to talk about for a couple of weeks, and that is Full Indie.
As I’ve delved deeper into the world of indie dev I’ve noticed just how important it is making friends in the community. Not just from the point of view of helping each other out but also to have like minded people you can share experiences and opinions with.
Being in the UK I’ve found it a little difficult to meet peers in the indie dev community. Twitter has been brilliant letting me connect with people but it can be a bit difficult at timed too. That’s why I was so pleased to hear about Full Indie UK.
Full Indie is a collective of Vancouver Game Developers founded by Jake Birkett. Off the back of that he went on to create Full Indie UK. The aim is to create a community of helping each other out, sharing experiences and fostering the knowledge amongst indie devs. It didn’t take me long to decide to join up!
I’m now really looking forward to meeting like minded individuals and hopefully finding out about some UK based game conferences!
I think it’s really important that we do as much as we can build our community locally and worldwide. There’s so much we can learn from each other and experiences to share. I believe there are a lot of insecurities that come naturally to those of us in the indie dev community and the more we share our stories and interact the more relaxed we can be and focus on what we love and do best, game dev.
Thanks
Stav
