As the weeks close in and 23rd October gets closer things are starting to fall into place nicely. Specifically for what I had originally planned for the development of Glo.
The game development is moving along nicely with no big bugs as of yet. The biz dev side of things is starting to feel more natural now too. After months of grinding and trying to build an understanding from nothing it’s all starting to feel a bit more familiar now.
Things are looking good. I’m feeling pretty confident that I am doing everything I can and I’m enjoying it too.
I’m also starting to learn some things I can do differently next time. I’ve been trying to find out about what type of convention circuit exists in the Europe and specifically UK. EGX and Play Expo are two big ones. It turns out EGX is this weekend. As I was looking into what was available for indies I found out they have what they call the Leftfield Collection. Basically it’s a display of new and interesting indie games. I feel like Glo would be a great candidate for this, however the submission window closed back in July. If I had been more aware of this side of things a few months ago I could have put Glo forward. That’s one lesson learnt. I will still try and grab a ticket for EGX as I think it will be a great learning experience and a chance to network.
Good news is the Play Expo is in early October, just before Glo releases. And it takes place in Manchester, which is round the corner from me. Upon contacting them I found out they are still picking developers for their free indie booths so I put my name in the hat. I should find out if we’re in next Monday. Fingers crossed!
