Happy Friday everyone!
It’s been a great week so far! Halloween was great fun and Neo had a great time trick or treating for the first time in his life. He even managed to overcome his moment of pure fear when he was greeted at one of the houses by a corridor full of adults dressed in scarily realistic Freddy, Jason etc costumes all wielding knifes and the sort whilst starring coldly at the children stood on the door step! I’ve got to say it sent chills down my spine so I can’t imagine how our trio of 2 year olds felt! Nevertheless the temptation for sweets is so strong that Neo plucked up the courage to go and grab a lollipop despite the chilling composure of the adults, lol. Great effort on their part and I’m proud of Neo for choosing sweets over pure, unadulterated fear!
In the world of game dev I’ve loved hacking away at a few prototypes and discussing ideas with friends and family over the past couple of weeks. After scratching that itch, I’ve come to my conclusion for the next game I am going to develop. This is a game idea that I had quite early on in the development of Glo, but it is a very different style of game and one that, back then, I wasn’t sure I would be able to execute. However, the last three months have done wonders for my confidence as a game developer and I find myself thinking in game loops now whenever I program. Also everything that I worried about maybe being too difficult as I developed Glo ended up being nothing to worry about in the end. Therefore I am up for much bigger challenges now.
The next project for Chronik Spartan Games is going to be a simulation/management aka a Tycoon game. The main premise is going to be around building a Gym Empire. As you may know from some of my other blogs I am a huge fan of Joe DeFranco and the Industrial Strength Show. Joe’s story is one where he started his gym in a storage closet and over time and with hard work built it into a world renowned brand. I find that story amazing and I think it will make the perfect recipe for a great game!
Over the next few posts I will be revealing more about this game, deciding a name for it (I’m currently stuck between Gym Tycoon and Gym Empire), discussing the development and very early prototype and talking about the overall development plan.
Have a great weekend!
