Project ZATO – Update 1

After figuring out the issue that was causing the guards in Project ZATO to not hear correctly, I managed to get a lot of progress done on the prototype over the weekend.

So far the prototype now covers:

  • Basic guard AI including sight and hearing
  • Multiple guard types – each with access to different areas and weapon types
  • Access to areas controlled by access keys obtained from the guards
  • Two crate types (no not the loot crate type, don’t get worried πŸ˜‰ one which contains action type items and the other which contains stealth type items – action crates will be in location which reward action style gameplay whereas as stealth crates will be in areas which support stealth style gameplay
  • Multiple weapon types
  • Camouflage
  • Silenced weapons
  • Drone vision – gives a larger area of view

We are now getting to the point whereby we will be able to start to build the rudimentary level designs which will help inform further design decisions for the gameplay and mechanics.

Alongside this we are developing a deep and far reaching story which will be designed in a way to reward those who appreciate an attention to detail and hopefully spawn theories as the community delves deeper into the story.
