Game Development So Far
Hey Spartans!
What a great week it’s been productivity wise! Also I had an absolute blast at the Intel Buzz Workshop which I’ll go into in another blog post later this week.
- Refine equipment code – The equipment code has now been overhauled to work more like the client code i.e. it is now modular which means I will be able to add assets much easier as I create them.
- Refine training behaviour – The client training behaviour has now been updated. Previously a client would only look for a single type of equipment over and over again and if it was occupied they would just wait and get annoyed. Now they have a range of equipment they are happy to use in a priority order and they will move around not going back to the same piece if it was recently used. This adds a lot more flow to the gym dynamics.
- Update roadmap – I’ve updated the roadmap and have concentrated on grouping the tasks so that I can now focus on related tasks week by week. This will also give me an overall maturity of the different aspects of the game
- Collate all community feedback – I’ve gone through all the feedback and made a large table with every idea captured. At some point I will start to prioritise the ideas.
Other Developments
Thanks to having a few extra hours afforded to me this week I managed to get through my entire task list this week. I was even able to do extra tasks, specifically updating the visuals with regards to the environment around the gym. As I mentioned in my previous blog post I feel this goes a long way to creating the immersion for the player and that is definitely something I am after for Gym Empire.

Time Management
With that being said all of this week’s tasks will focus on the visual side of things again. I’m at the point where I want to start aiming to creating a more representative trailer, something that is much closer to the final look of the game and can take my marketing to the next level:
- Build external environments
- Create varied character models
- Update UI and menus
