Big Announcement

I’ve been so busy this week (I actually wrote this post for Friday but didn’t got round to uploading it until today) doing the finishing touches to Glo and getting the word out to press that I’ve not had much time to read up on articles, watch videos etc. Therefore to avoid just putting something up for the sake of it I’m not doing The Vault this week. I believe it’s better to keep it restricted to genuinely useful information rather than fluff to just fill a Friday.

So today I’m going to talk about a couple of things I’ve been up to this week.

First of all there’s great news for Glo and Chronik Spartan as a studio. Glo has been confirmed to appear at the PLAY Expo in Manchester this October 14th and 15th. This is amazing news for Glo and Chronik Spartan games as it is the first time I will be showcasing a game at an expo and will hopefully help to build a name for Chronik Spartan Games as an Indie Development Studio. Also it might help to get the word out for Glo, releasing the week after the expo. Last week I mentioned how I’d left it a bit late to start applying for conventions and expos, but this just goes to show it’s always worth a shot!

I got the news this Monday and I’ve been keeping it quiet until the news was formally released. I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t nervous, but I’m equally excited for an amazing opportunity to grow both my brand and my experience as an indie developer. It’s also really nice to know that out of hundreds if not thousands of applications, Glo was chosen to be one of the selected few. If nothing else comes of it, this alone is a nice achievement.

Secondly, one of my new followers on Twitter turned out to be a representative from an AMA website gamingama.com. They asked me if I would like to talk about Glo and host an AMA this week about it. So I thought why not. I enjoy talking about game dev and if I get a few more interested people then that’s a bonus. I didn’t really know what to expect though. I was thinking I’d mostly get questions about why I’m making Glo, how long I’ve been working on it etc, but the questions turned out to be much broader than that. Ranging from “What are the advantages of pixel buffers” to “Should my child pursue a career in game dev”! It turned out to literally be Ask Me Anything! I tried my best to answer the questions as helpfully as possible without being misleading in anyway and I really enjoyed myself. I didn’t get to talk about Glo that much, but that’s fine. Hopefully I might have helped make some decisions easier for people to think about. Overall I really enjoyed the experience and would recommend it to anyone. I’ll definitely do another one in the future when I have more to talk about. The answers went live today and as far as I know it’s still open for more comments.

Have a great weekend everyone.
