Game Development So Far
What is up fellow Spartans!
After a four day weekend this week thanks to a bank holiday and an extra day off just for good measure I managed to get some decent progress done on Gym Empire. Whilst still getting to spend time with the family, book a holiday, do some long overdue gardening and have a BBQ. Last week I set out to complete:
· Add functionality to client menus and clean up icon look – The clients are now fully controlled through their menus rather than through context sensitive clicks as they were previously. However I’ve done no refinement to the icon look and I decided this was a simple aesthetic task which can be sorted out later along with a bunch of other aesthetic fixes.
· Refine equipment code – I decided to hold this off until next week.
· Implement full wall building menu functionality – The wall building is not functional and accessible the main menu system. Further refinement will be needed to enable different wall types and intelligent placing of floors near walls but I completed what I planned for this week so I’m happy with the progress
· Implement in game camera controls – The camera is now controllable during gameplay. I’ve currently got full control of vertical and horizontal rotation, panning and zooming. I’m not sure that the game will need all of those controls and I’m specifically thinking about restricting the vertical rotation but I can play around with that later on. As of today I’m really happy with the results!
Other Developments
I’m getting to that point again now where I feel like my task selecting week by week is starting to be less thought out and planned. I think that is because since setting out my road map a few months back I’ve ticked off a decent percentage of the tasks laid out, meaning I need to go down to the next level of detail for the coming months. Also the more work I do, the more I understand about what needs to be done in a greater level of detail. Therefore after this week’s tasks I’ll be updating my roadmap to help future planning.
Time Management
This week’s tasks are:
· Refine equipment code
· Refine training behaviour
· Update roadmap
· Collate all community feedback
