I’ve gotta admit I’m finding myself up against a bit of a brick wall recently. The animation side of things started really well but as I’ve tried to perfect it it’s gotten harder and harder.
Game Development So Far
For the past two weeks I’ve been struggling trying to get the Animator.MatchTarget function to work. Basically it is to help align the character to the equipment e.g. lying down on a work bench or facing the right way on a treadmill. No matter what I do though I don’t seem to be able to make it do anything. I’ve looked through all the help I can find on Google and nothing seems to give me the answer. There doesn’t seem to be that many people having the same issue. Normally I would give the task a break and move onto something else, but I really want to get the animation sorted ASAP so that I can go ahead and start making an early trailer.
This morning I came across the Mecanim Example Scenes on the Unity Asset store. This has a working example of MatchTarget in it. I’m going to have a look through that and try and identify what’s wrong with my project.
As soon as I find out I’ll post the solution here as this one is seriously confusing me. If anyone else runs into similar issues then hopefully there’ll be a place for them to find the answer.
