I was scrolling through Twitter today and I came across a post from @Dilmerv “I also get asked how I stay motivated and how in the heck I do it. I can’t explain it but I see the vision of what I am doing now payoff in years from today. Is weird that I know and see it how it all will play out.”
I always find it really interesting what Dilmer has to say and his mindset and work ethic is one I really relate to. I particularly liked this tweet though because it explains something that is not always easy to describe.
Over the past few months a question I get asked a lot when I explain my day to day life as a part time game Dev is how I find the time and motivation. It can be hard to explain without sounding too generic. It never feels like work to me but that’s only part of the answer. There’s lots of things I enjoy doing that don’t feel like work, but I don’t find the time to do those things. Dilmers post made me realise though as he hit the nail on the head! I believe that if I continue on this path and keep learning as I go that it will eventually pay off.
One thing that is common amongst some of the most successful people today is that they focused on doing what they love regardless of any immediate reward. I genuinely believe that if you enjoy doing what you do, keep a positive attitude towards what you can achieve and continue to seek to learn despite setbacks then you put yourself in the best position possible to achieve your dreams.
