Glo – Progress Update 7

The last progress update was 2 weeks ago before I put #Glo out for beta testing and went on holiday. The tasks revolved mostly around getting Glo ready for the beta test:

  • Add a menu system – got the basic framework in place for the start screen, levels select and pause menus.
  • Polish the animations – I cleaned up the boss and character animations. I’ve so far just gone for jump animations on the main character as I feel any more made it look a bit cheesy.
  • Polish the levels – I retested the levels a number of times and fine-tuned item and baddy placement.
  • Add plot for the first world – I managed to flesh out and add in the plot for the whole of the first world.
  • Add remainder of SFX – All the SFX are in place now.
  • Mature the banner design – Hayley helped me refine the banner design to something I’m really happy with, she is definitely my museJ.
  • Start making the press kit – I’ve got a decent start at the press kit, I need to now work on finalising this to start reaching out to press.

This week my focus is going to be on getting a trailer sorted and the press kit finished. One thing I noticed when putting out the beta version is that despite gathering all the contact info and making a marketing strategy I haven’t actually done the work of contacting the press yet so Glo is still pretty much under the radar. I’m not sure if I will contact the press yet for any previews of Glo but if I do I want to ensure I have everything in place.

With that said this weeks main tasks are:

  • Create a trailer
  • Complete the press kit
