Project ZATO – Creating A World Takes Time

It’s been a while since I’ve written about Project ZATO and tweets of its progress are quite thin on the ground. To keep you all in the loop and up to date with what’s going on I thought it would be a good time to provide a status update.

At the outset, Project ZATO is still very much in development. We are currently at the point where we have basic physics and mechanics established and we are now focusing on the visual look and the layering of the story. The look of Project ZATO and the story it tells are very important to the game as a whole therefore we do not want to reveal anything prematurely only for it to change later on and taint the aesthetic of the game or story it tells.

To put this into context, when the game releases it will be the complete and finished project that we have worked towards at that point in time. However what is important for me is the lore of the game. That lore includes the promotional material we put out there in the build up to its release in the form of screenshots, teaser articles, easter eggs etc. I want the whole history of the game to hold together from beginning to end, not just in the game itself but in the surrounding material related to it. Therefore we want to make sure that we don’t rush anything and whatever we release is 100% in keeping with the games themes. That means that, especially in these early days, information may seem to come at more of a trickle but it in the long run I believe it will be worth it.

If you stick with us on this journey you will see a story born from just a thought, grow into something special.
