The Vault – Week 2

Hey everyone, how’s it going?

It’s Friday so that means it’s time for the next entries into the vault. This week I’ve been pretty busy progressing on Glow so I’ve not done as much research, as such I only have two entries for this week, but I found them both very informative and worthy of keeping for future reference, and both revolve around game design and structure as I’ve focusing a lot on that this week.

Boss Battle Design and Structure – I found this article a really well structured and detailed description of a preferred technique to designing boss encounters. As the article states, it’s not only structure that will work, but it’s a tried and tested one.

Empowering the Player: Level Design in N++ – This is a really interesting look into the design of the literally thousands of levels designed for N++. With ten years of experience under their belts Mare and Raigan certainly know what they’re talking about!
