It feels like ages ago I filled out the long detailed application to become a Steam developer. Since then I’ve been checking my email account countless times each day waiting for that acceptance email from Steam. Knowing it takes about 30 days for them to do all their checks I had no option but to be patient.
After coming back from holiday I was starting to worry that maybe there was an issue, maybe I had been rejected! The 30 days hadn’t quite passed but as the days passed I started to worry that the longer it took the more chance there would be of me having to push out the release date into November. Releasing in November is something I really want to avoid as it marks the start of the build up to Christmas and the busiest period for game releases, meaning #Glo would find it a lot harder to get noticed.
Then mid week I thought I’ll just head straight over to Steam Direct to see if anything had changed. Turns out everything was fine and I just needed to confirm my bank details! Good job I checked as I would probably still be waiting now. Although to be fair I should have just been checking the site anyway!
So I was accepted by Steam as a developer, now it was time to set up my coming soon page and start integrating with the SDK. Over the next few days I completed the checklist and submitted the Coming Soon page, looked into integrating with the SDK and uploading builds to Steam.
When it was all completed with Glo listed on Steam and a test build running in the Steam client it was one of those moments of both joy and relief! I got in!
